I was just thinking of how the New Testament actually contains the promise of Jesus's second coming during the lifetimes of at least some of those people who were living in his time. I found the passage telling us about that in Mathew 16:28 and Mark 9:1.
The passage goes like this "And Jesus was saying to them, "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.""
There are different variations of it (different translations) all of them though, quite similar, check for yourself here (or elsewhere ;))
But what made me lough is this pathetic try to interpret this clear message as in fact meaning the opposite: that all of those standing here will not see the second coming, but some - who are not standing here now - will, before they die. See for yourself:
-----
Matthew 16:28: Jesus is recorded as saying: "...there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." (KJV) As mentioned above, the early Christian movement assumed that Jesus was referring to the individuals standing in the crowd in front of him.
The King James Version, cited above, does permit another alternative interpretation. Jesus might have been referring to a location and not to the crowd. He could have meant "there will be some people standing at this location sometime in the future who will see the Son of Man coming." (source link)
-------
Oh, great! Some people - the self-appointed bible editors decided to permit 'the alternative interpretation'! What would we do without them?
So Jesus was actually just saying that sometime in the future, when the second coming is going to take place, in this location (just as in all the other locations, naturally), there will be some folks who will still be alive and will phisically be situated right here. What an important piece of information!
Also, he could have meant that those guys not necessarily will all be standing there, in fact, he could have meant some of them would be sitting down on their couches and watching TV...where they will see the second coming in the movie!
What? Don't like my interpretation? Why? Oh, maybe I'm not permitted to interpret the holy book. Gotta obtain the bullshit editing licence first. From some chief holy bullshit editing lodge.
From guys like those, who, for example, have chosen the 4 'good' gospels out of ... many others, not too worthy gospels. They were not the primary authors of the thing, but they decided that they owned the exclusive editing rights. Lol.
Seems like the only thing one mortal needs to be able to feel and act superior to other mortals is a weird costume with a hat and an unfounded certainity that he is entitled to leadership.

Right, they could have swept it under the rug like meny other parts, but didnt. Probably missed it. |
Of all the texts that were left out of the official Bible, seems odd this one would have been chosen as canon.
