You might have seen me mentioning this awesome "Chopra" quotes generator website. Well, turns out it was used in a study, and the study basically concluded that people of certain intelligence level see no difference between the true and automatically generated nonsensical, buzzwords filled, pseudo profound quotes like "Your movement regulates the door of external reality"
Basically, as we have been suspecting all along, some people easily mistake vagueness for profundity.
The gizz of the study is:
"‘Our results support the idea that some people are more receptive to this type of bulls**t,’ he continued, concluding: ‘Those more receptive to bulls**t are less reflective, lower in cognitive ability – numeracy, verbal and fluid intelligence), are more prone to ontological confusions and conspiratorial ideation, are more likely to hold religious and paranormal beliefs, and are more likely to endorse complementary and alternative medicine.’"
If you're curious to read the whole study itself, I have a pdf of it here https://www.docdroid.net/Tk5Jhj6/-bullshit-quotes-study.pdf.html

Irina,
Although I never read any of ChopraВґs books, I have often heard of him. Well, I can say that he really knows how to make money, lots of money. This reminds me of that guy in Siberia who claims to be linked to Jesus. Have you heard of him? I saw him in an interview in a documentary years ago. Take care. RaГєl |

pseudo profound quotes like "Your movement regulates the door of external reality" Hey, don't be so harsh! It's only pseudo because of a forgivable one word omission. Insert 'bowel' between 'Your movement' and it all makes perfect sense. ![]() |

Irina,
Do you have any political opinions? Right or left wing? Do you have any opinions on the dumpster fire that is the U.S. Presidential election? ![]() |

Hey Brian, Well, I was initially leaning twards left, I mean, who wouldn't want equal opportunities and good safety nets for all, but as I get older I find myself reluctuntly and gradually accepting the right because I find it more down to Earth and realistic. What about you? Your ongoin elections is yet another argument for antinatalism. What a choice, man! Just bring on that meteorite already http://nypost.com/2016/07/01/americans-prefer-a-meteor-hit-earth-than-trump-clinton-as-president/ |

LOL indeed. But I don't consider the anti-abortion and religion to be essential to the right, I mean right as the role of the government in peoples lives, so I'm leaning more to the limited government as opposed to a 'nanny-state', also, in the economical sense towards free market more than a planned economy. But I recognize there should be some basic safety nets and some help from the government. I'm operating on the idea of Left-Right presented in this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7rHGydPFjY (beginning of the video) Greed I think is neither left nor right, it's ingrained in us. It's just that in US it is out in the open, everyone knows corporations want to make money, lobby their interests etc. And in the Soviet Union it was supposedly not about greed at all but people in power covertely still owned tons of shit average citizens could not even dream about. While it was standing in the way of people doing business, it fed a huge apparatus of beaurocrats good for nothing. Still have echoes from that past in Ukraine. Government wanting to control and regulate and prohibit while it makes profit. Paypal still can't come in because of our regulations, people who want to work internetionally need to submit tons of papers, small farmers making real good wine can't afford a half a million hryvnia worth licence and are being shut down as illegal while big corporations makig wine from dry concentrate are in all superarkets. That's the dangers of the Left. |
