I think I have OK dreams most of the time (like - whatever, neutral bullshit), sometimes - way too stupid and annoying ones, not often but memorable - fucking horrible ones.
Yesterday i dreamt about a cute red kitten, i was petting it and it was purring)))
But a weak ago in my dream i was thinking how terrifying death is and that i'm going to die some day. In another dream some time ago I was preparing to commit suicide because I had some terrible condition and I was there thinking to myself 'I gotta do it, it's only gotta get worse, I gotta find the strength to do it now'. Scary, huh? ))) It's not enough that I'm bothered with shit in my waking hours, but could I have some freakin' peace when I'm sleeping? I'll go for purring red kittens! oh and... sexual dreams, those are nice, I'll have that too once in a while But they don't happen too often((
Sometimes when i overwork i continue writing code in my dreams for some time lol.
I don't mind not remembering dreams at all, but some are worth remembering.
Do you ever feel love in your dreams? I remember dreaming of being in love with some guy. Felt kind of nice. That's one love story that doesn't end in tears for you. You wake up and poof - he's gone. But he's not dead or through with you, he's just not real. Oh well...
And flying? I remember several dreams about flying. Some - kind of lame flying couple meters from the ground, but others - whoo hoo - way up in the sky and for a long time. That was great.
Anyone wants to share their dreams or sleeping experience etc? ))
Oh...here's one more funny image sort of related to the topic

Well an existential dream or two won't hurt you once in a while. I've heard that a lot of people tend to have recurring themes in their dreams. Mine usually involve being on an airline that is going to crash, or watching one crash helplessly. But death is something we know nothing about. If there is a God, then I believe that I've served my fellow humans well enough to receive whater "afterlife" there might be. If there isn't, then it doesn't matter if you die. I mean, if you try to remember something before you were born, you don't imagine blackness or emptyness. That is the only time that the word "nothingness" can be applied to something. And it doesn't bother us that at one time we were not alive. Assuming there is a God, I feel like I'm covered, and if there isn't, it doesn't matter. That's why I no longer fear death. So try not to worry about death. As with life, it happens, and in my opinion there is nothing to sugest that being dead is that bad. I've never heard anyone complain about it.lol

Recurrig dreams happen. This has only recently became one as I've brought the subject of dying into my conciousness. Most people have it in sub-conciousness so their fear of death takes more symbolic, less obvious forms, Sub-conciousness speaks in symbols. If there isn't, then it doesn't matter if you die. I mean, if you try to remember something before you were born, you don't imagine blackness or emptyness. Exactly. That's the subject of my other entry http://uriupina.com/philosophy-psychology/missing-out-not-existing Assuming there is a God, I feel like I'm covered Well, if it's the God you expect Otherwise who knows what that god's standards are))) That's why I no longer fear death. So try not to worry about death. I'm not so much afraid of death, mostly of dying. It's like being afraid of dentists. Even if you know the result is going to be ok the process scares the shit out of you. But also, we're just wired to be afraid of death, it's a primal fear that's hard to control. You can only repress it, or forget about it saying 'it's not happening now, so i'll try to enjoy life while i can'. there is nothing to sugest that being dead is that bad. I've never heard anyone complain about it.lol yeah, no complaints from non-existent people either |

A month with no blog post and now two in quick succession...
I've asked others about this but none seem to have the same thing happen. If sleeping after being really sleep deprived (e.g. after having been awake 30+ hours), I find that I usually dream each of those times and they're usually much more vivid, while from a normal sleep it's uncommon for me to even dream/remember. Do you find you're more likely to dream / have more vivid dreams after going to sleep really tired? Unfortunately most of my dreams aren't particularly pleasant. Most have a very weird, surreal, "off", sometimes even eerie, feeling; and visually it's usually quite dark with either no colours (black, grey, white) or otherwise they're very faded/dark, also even kind of a grainy, out of focus image. A perfect mix for plenty of nightmares Then again, I guess it's mostly just a reflection of one's psyche / kind of stimuli (music, film, etc) one is exposed to. As a result, around the time I was contemplating my mortality was when I had some of my most profound dreams as they felt as real as reality even after waking up - all of which I was facing death in the dream. Even sexual dreams aren't all that positive due to what you have to deal with after waking up especially if you're already late for work/whatever Even love/romance dreams, or anything else one desires, while they don't end in tears, can end waking up feeling annoyed that it's ended and was only a dream. Then there's lucid dreams. Only had a couple myself and those where in my young youth. A month with no blog post and now two in quick succession... :) Yeah, that's very much like me, I act on inspiration, I'm not a weekly newspaper that has to meet the deadline sleeping after being really sleep deprived I didnt notice a difference, I see vivid dreams often anyway and tend to remember them. There were however periods in my life when I noticed I didn't remember my dreams. But that was just a period. And fuck sleep deprivation! I don't tolerate that very well. Even sexual dreams aren't all that positive due to what you have to deal with after waking up especially if you're already late for work/whatever Hehe. I am never late for work, my computer is near my bed :D Don't think I ever had those. Star Trek? I keep hearing about it, but I've never seen it nor do I have the desire to. I'mn very picky with sci-fi stuff, usually don't like it.

Last night I dreamed I was at college and I was waiting for the results of an exam I had to take. I found out I failed that exam and I was trying to convince the teacher to give me another point so I could pass. This is actually something that happened IRL last summer.
I've developed a habit of oversleeping until 11, sometimes 12 AM, I usually wake up at around 8 or 9, but if I go back to sleep, sometimes I'm able to continue the previous dream or get a new one. Dreaming is awesome If you haven't seen it already, I really recommend you this movie called "Waking Life", it's very philosophical and it relates to everything about our lives and our dreams. You can watch it here: http://vimeo.com/30934073 |

My mother still has this recurring dream about exams in college. Horrible traumatization for life! sometimes I'm able to continue the previous dream or get a new one. I'm not sure if I ever succeeded in that but certainly have tried.)) I'll check out "Waking Life". Just read a review about it, said it was very philosophical.)) |

Periodically I have dreams about tornadoes, usually many down from the sky at one time and they'll often pass right over me.
Occasionally I also have those kinds of 'fail at school' dreams...sometimes I even have dreams that I failed high school! I wasn't even close to failing high school in actuality, but somehow that dream is nearly most terrifying of all. One of the strangest dreams I've ever had involved a bear ripping a tank apart right in front of me. I want to hear some 'analyst' interpret that! On death(sometimes i have death dreams) - not to sound kind of lame, but it's so psychological..when I think about death..I think..oh if I commit suicide that's fine ,but if I die in some way out of my control that'd be bad! Personally, suicide is not a thought that really bothers me..I think it'd be funny to take a battery of tests proving I'm actually more functional and intelligent and sane than most people..and then to leave a perfectly reasonable suicide note..and just do it. And maybe just really do it weird..like with a clown suit on and maybe lighting farts beforehand and videoing that as well. And juggling...yes...juggling. It'd be nice to have seals balancing beach balls on their noses too, but resources can be fucking limited. Also to write something really confusing just to screw with people's minds...like to leave a bunch of bullshit poetry about how beautiful I think life is but I just had to go because i was overcome with awe...oh yeah! WOO. I simply can't stand how serious most people are about a bunch of bullshit(ie, themselves and their doings)...it'd be like a death play on the absurdity of it all. One of my fantasies is to make a beautiful piece of art somehow..maybe music or a play..and to make something completely brilliant and compelling..and then at some point in the piece there is complete and total degradation of the whole thing in utter absurdity and surprise, 'ruining it'. I'm not sure what that means..probably that I'm very disturbed! Unfortunately, few who can view death so humorously are likely to pull of such a stunt as they'll instead find resourceful ways to make life bearable...but hope for the best! Maybe tonight I'll dream about having sex with a bear as it rips a tank apart...that could get me closer to suicide! HAHA... -Tim |

I want to hear some 'analyst' interpret that! Not without your help they can't. The way Freud would do it is to ask you what are your associations for 'bear' and 'tank' (usually first things coming to mind). And maybe just really do it weird..like with a clown suit on and... Hahahaha. I just imagined a new TV show featuring funny suicides. It'd rank well I think!
Oh yes. Boring. Everyone trying to prove their worth to themselves and others. Who's smarter, who's richer, who's got a better body... Although, you know, it's still nice to be a filthy rich fucker with a stunning body just so you can take advantage of all that, live wild and die young. Hopefully, in your sleep, while you're dreaming of not having sex with a bear who rips a tank apart))) |

Nice piece Rina, enjoyed it. My problem is not so much sleeping, but waking up on weekdays to go to work. An apt quote from Schopenhauer: "Whatever one may say, the happiest moment of the happy man's life is that of his falling asleep, and the unhappiest moment of the unhappy man, that of his waking." |

Couldn't agree more, waking up sucks in 99% of the cases. What sucks even more is being woken up by noisy neighbours. Btw, the reason I know thoughts don't materialize is because my neighbour who was doing the remodeling of his appartment for about a year is still living and breathing and not flying in the sky with dynomite up his ass as I've been vividly and passionately imagining him day after day after day during the same year. If that power of wishing something doesn't materialize - nothing does! |

Absolutely, Jesse...
Waking up is a most unfortunate moment... even for those who deem themselves happy... (ahh, the fools, obviously they don't have the slightest idea what real happiness really is...). |
