In short, I'm moving. I'd like to say 'I've moved' but this process has me living with travel bags around and eating sanwitches for the 3rd day already.
Internet set-up in the new apartment is the 1st thing to do, naturally.
Btw, these guys bring you an agreement with a candy hahaha:
The jump-drive is actually another internet I bought, 3g modem, no subscription, just as a back-up, because, you know, landline internet disappears sometimes and since I work online, it may be something time-sensitive so I need internet all the time. Also, allows me to go and work from the park which is real close to my new place.
My old apartment was nice, perfect from the inside, but located right by the busy road which would have traffic jams couple of times per day and the air was just horrible.
It was also very dusty because of the pollution. One day passes - layer of dust is visible. I oftentimes kept my windows closed and used ac even when it wasn't hot or cold, just as an air filter. Well, in the new place there is no ac. But also, it is not needed so much, it seems. Ths is my new look out the window:
This one s cheaper, a bit less fancy on the inside, but also very decent, and in a much better location. Sitting here listening to the birds singing. Thinking I gotta go make new sandwitches haha. Because coking anything more complicated in the kitchen with unpacked stuff everywhere is too complicated.
Just one more pic I thought I'd throw in, and this one is of an ad on one of the streets:
Darth Vader of the Internet Party of Ukraine is now running for mayor. Hilarious ads. He was refused admission for presidential campaign. Next try - Kiev mayor. Should I vote for him?)))

Relocating is very traumatic for me due to loss of internet connection, but I see you have your move well planned
With Darth Vader it is bit more tricky. I recall that he represented a villain. Just hope he left that part out of his manifesto. But this is quite original and not the same old boring politician style vote for me because blah blah blah BS. I would vote for him if I had the chance. Hope you settle in nicely in new apartment. |

Loss of internet? I called these guys and in an hour I had my internet up and running, free 3-day trial period. That's what I call service))) Yeah, at least Darth is an honest villain, right? Most politicians are wolves in sheep's clothing. Thanks :) |

I'm curious. How's that unrest over there affecting you?

Economically and psychologically. I'm trying to counter both negative effects. |

vader is hardly an "honest villain"
he turned to the dark out of the allure of the power to save a loved one and then was courrupted. as for politicians they can scarcely be called evil, but blind, ignorant or courrupted would suffice. |

Hahaha! that fucking sign with the figure going down the stairs
erase the stairs and you'll get a figure doing an MJ moonwalk. never seen a sign like this before. Can't wait to see Kiev. get one of those air filters, it collects dust and others shit. These days...And many politicians are the other way around, they're sheep in wolves clothing. Think about it.... get it? you should peace out |

Looks like a really cool place to be in the summer heat of the city with all those trees to shade under.
RE:3G.Have had something similar for about 2 years.Once it connects it's a very reliable connection even though the speed seems to jump around more than a sack full of Kangaroos. And when switching from normal broadband to 3G,the firewall has silently blocked 3G access on very rare occasions. Also the device likes being hung up vertically on the end of it's long lead or it can fail to detect any 3G signal in my location. As for running costs;normal browsing costs very little as long as you don't use it all day or try to view/download/upload large files. And on my contract the topup will not expire as long as the device is used at least once in every 180 days. |

It not only looks but sounds like a cool place, here:
And that's how it is pretty much the whole day. Maybe some sounds of people talking, and only distant ones (which is important) of children. When I was choosing the place I made sure there is no playground under my windows. Because during the day it's noisy with kids and in the night lots of them are used as free night clubs for proletariat :D My 3g is pretty much the same. I chose the subscription much like yours, I pay only on the day I'm using it, about half a dollar fee with 1000Mb included, then $0.008 for each Mb. |

Nice view! All I have to look at outside my window is the ugly, salmon colored house across the street. I kind of wish I lived in an apartment instead of a house, it's somewhat easier to move if the place ends up not suiting you. Hope you enjoy the new place.

Thanks, Riya! So far so good))) Well I wish I owned a house. Or an apartment. But I simply rent, because I don't ant to live with my parents in their apartment. Its good I can even afford that, of course))) |

Irina,
Be careful what you wish for In many ways, owning a home is a scam, at least in the U.S. The idea of \"owning a home\" was made by large companies so that their employees would be tied down and wouldn't be able to move, thus they would have to stay with their company When one buys a house, they put all or most (unless they're rich) of their money into one large investment that is illiquid and comes with loads of costs. The bank owns the house for 30 years, and the \"homeowner\" has to pay for insurance, maintenance, taxes, etc., etc. which can add up to 40% of the mortgage amount. Renting is freedom, which I know we like So, be careful what you wish for |

Brian, You're talking about mortgage. Perhaps renting is better than that in some cases. But they're both bad if you don't have much money, and both good if you do. So, money is the freedom. I meant owning a house as in really owning, not paying it off for 30 years being afraid to lose my house if I lose my job. Some of my friends here have gotten their apartments from their parents. In this sense, owning is not a burden: if you decide to move - just give your own property for rent and rent yourself some other place. |
