24-10-2016 True, i just hope that they wont come into existence again.. but i can't figure out why (how) anything exists at all, how could something come into existence from nothing? so it seems that something has always existed for eternity, whatever it is, and that's a scary though, although to me the idea that something came into existence from nothing (creating us in the process) is also scary, because what would prevent it from happening again?I also thought about determinism/fatalism, and also how it seems that we don't even exist (illusion of self). I wonder what your thoughts are on this. It seems like pure nihilism, although Sam Harris and many others would disagree. luckily, i'm not invested that much emotionally into the idea of determinism and illusion of self, although it seems true, i will continue to believe that we live once, that there are no multiverses, that time and some kind of free will are real --- > Edited 24-10-2016 03:14:41 |

24-10-2016 @Nikola The something from nothing is very interesting, so interesting that I spent 5 years at university trying to understand it with a degree in physics. I think I have enough math and physics now to see how it is possible, and there are more and more publications written to the lay person to help explain it. But, of course, science is still working on understanding the beginnings of things, so more to come.Interesting to me, of course, are religious people who make this the cornerstone of their argument for a creator or god, but then are left crying "faith" when you ask them where god came from, and they will often say s/he "always existed". Well, so can the universe then, maybe come into and out of existence as it does. |
