22-09-2015 I don't like the skyscrapers either. They all look the same everywhere, soulless pieces of steel and concrete towering over you, making you feel small and unimportant. They should about 5 stories, that seems about right. Its because they built them for function only, not considering aesthetics or how they would make people feel. I remember reading "The Architecture of Happiness" by Alain de Botton, there he writes about this sort of stuff. I like his books, not sure if you know him. |

23-09-2015 Dear Irina,If I had tons of money, I would gladly send them to you. The Paraguayan currency, the GuaranГ, is worthless and we for reference mostly use US dollars and euros here. The minimum wage is roughly US$ 400 per month. 1 US$ is Gs.5580 – 1 euro is Gs. 6.165 A Lamborghini? Hahaha, no. I go by bus here. A bus ticket is 2,300 GuaranГes but now we have buses with air conditioning that cost 3,400 GuaranГes. Be safe. RaГєl P.D. Did you see the movie Youth Without Youth by Francis Ford Coppola with Tim Roth and Alexandra Maria Lara? |

That's what we had before this major currency inflation. About 400USD I think. I know life sucks in many places around the world for different reasons. Anyway, buses are still better than carts with horses))) Nope, haven't seen that movie, I've only watched Coppola's Godfather trilogy. I usually don't watch either romance or fantasy movies, with some rare exceptions. |

23-09-2015 SeГ±or Kirk,I read your comments. As usual very profound. You worked as a male model. You must have had a lot of fun out there. A lady killer? DonВґt forget that the U.S. (in this case White America, Anglo-Saxon and Protestant) is an empire. An empire wants to expand beyond its borders whatever the cost and to the government, any government we humans are cannon fodder. We are a blood sacrifice to be shed at any time. The little I know that the U.S. started by annihilating the Indians. I find interesting that the US Army has helicopters named Apache, a tribute to the dead. Very strange. More wars and invasion. The Manifest Destiny. Mexico,(The Alamo with John Wayne, what a hero!) Hawaii, Cuba, the Philippines, Haiti, the Dominican Republic attest to this. Even faraway Paraguay was under threat of invasion by the United States in the 1850s. We are brainwashed into believing in Motherland/Fatherland,God and Family and we insanely sacrifice anyone to achieve the aims of those in power. Which one is the correct word psychopath or sociopath? ThatВґs the name we can give to this people in power. Do you think this a natural order, I mean, elites that are against mankind, outsiders and the masses? |

24-09-2015 @Raul Well, a little, but I did what I could to put myself through school, including jobs in construction, pizza delivery, dishwashing, legal drug delivery, tutoring, assembly-line work, lifeguarding, and some modeling. All were boring, including the modeling.Sometimes I received unwanted attention, which was flattering, which I tried to handle professionally, and since I knew that I thought differently than the average bear, I usually moved very slowly when getting involved with someone, because as an atheist ANer, there is just too much ground to cover with the standard belief system of marriage, children, work, god, legacy, death, etc. to have to extract oneself when misunderstandings inevitably occur. Life is problematic no matter what. Egomaniacs, parents (same thing?), wars, and every other consequence of life and living produces unnecessary and possibly unwanted suffering for no real reason or result. This is what any compassionate and rational person should easily understand *if* they wanted to. Once you let yourself think that what you do is somehow important beyond your own existence, or that your existence really matters, then all bets are off and killing and domination of another tribe of people or even nature itself is justified if it furthers the existence of your own tribe on a short-term basis. And once you bring others into this absurd game, you then set yourself up with an obligation to lie, cheat, or steal to ensure their goodwill, as well as a lever to block your freedom to pursue the truth and exhibit qualities beyond those of mere immediate survival and the trail of carnage that results. --- > Edited 24-09-2015 00:48:21 |

24-09-2015 Dear Irina,Paraguay is a country with a lot of poor people but that has made many big fortunes for a a few. One example is the current president, Horacio Cartes. He is wealthy and has often been accused of money laundering, cigarrette smuggling, drug smuggling. He even spent some time in jail in the 80s. He is not the only one. I suppose crime pays. Be safe there. Raul |

Our former president who fled also did time in prison. Crime pays indeed. I suppose the most immoral people always appear at the top because the majority of populations everywhere are apathetic and the minority of people with both high morality and the courage and willingness to do good for the country can't fight the hungry, greedy, cunning psychopaths on their own. Especially since in modern democracies people actually vote those psychopaths in themselves. |

Yes, and even more depressing is the fact that those that would be the *best* leaders aren't corrupt enough to rise to the top, just like those that would be *great* parents don't want to be parents at all. |

Exactly. People become parents to solve their own problems, to add something to their lives by having biological children. The poor, struggling to survive, in abusive relationships - you name it - all think having themselves a baby will make it all better for them. It doesn't, usually. While people who have interesting lives, who are not needy, think long and hard before making such a life-changing decision because they actually have something to lose. |

26-09-2015 Dear Irina,Thank you replying to my comment. You are right when you say that apathy is the common behavior before these psychopaths in power. But apathy is also necessary to survive in this indifferent world. There is a problem about psychopaths, most of them are our “beloved heroes”, mass murderers, builders of empires, kings, queens that are in our history books. Men such as Alexander The Great, Attila, Gengis Khan, Napoleon, King of the Belgians Leopold (who plundered Congo and made it his own personal estate), Lenin, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Fidel Castro and even Margaret Thatcher (who had no hesitation in ordering the sinking of the Argentine ship Belgrano off the territorial waters in the Falklands War in 1982). I am not part of that minority with high morality and willing to do good for the common people. I can´t be good. I wonder if I would do the same if I were in positions of power. Probably the same thing I am criticizing. One question: Are psychopaths the same as sociopaths? Take care. Raúl |

02-10-2015 Privyet Irina,Arrrgg, I just wrote a few paragraphs and forgot my password and forgot to copy it. Long story short: What is your experience and opinion on Gypsies? I think that stereotypes are often wrong because I know many people from many groups and everyone is different, but I think Gypsies may be the exception. Most might be crooks. What do you think? |

From what I know about them they make nice movie charachters and bad neighbors. All the gypsies I've met were the tricksters and beggars. I've also seen one documentary about them and their life in Spain. How their 'barons' live in mansions and the rest of them - in slums, filth, forced marriages, forced child labor. What good can possibly come out of such living? None. If I met a person who was integrated in a modern society, or, what the hell, even not fully integrated byt working for a living, creating some goods, providing services, and he/she was a gypsy - I wouldn't hold any prejudice against such a person. But all those herds of gypsies living in anclaves in their little secluded worlds -- I simply don't trust them. Don't approach me, don't talk to me, get the hell away - that's my reaction. |
|
02-10-2015 Good stuff, Irina. It's almost like the Gypsies aren't human. |

02-10-2015
Of course they're human, but 'human' is not an honorable title, nor does a human animal have an admirable track record in history. The word 'humane' I find especially ironic considering all the things we did and continue doing to each other. That being said, in our age of political correctness, whenever one tries to point out any differences between groups of people one is risking being called a 'racist'. A new trend which dumb masses of people, who in other age would have just as willingly committed genocides and burnt witches, nowadays jump on and support. We're not 'racists' therefore we'll just deny that a human animal raised in one environment will behave in one way, and in another environment - guess what? - in a different way! There are even areas of cities where one goes into feeling more safe and less safe because of the people living there. |
|
02-10-2015 Great points I should have said, when I say "human" I only mean the best of us. Like you and I |
|
02-10-2015 Good point. I am kind of an elitist. And by elitist, I don't mean that I only like rich people, or smart people, or educated people. Or that I look down on people that work at McDonald's. I don't.I'd say I like the top 10% of every group; Blacks, Latinos, Gays, Jews, Asians, (not so sure about Gypsies yet) or whomever. When someone is nice, cool, caring, has some talent, some interest in philosophy and some knowledge about the world, they're good with me |
|
05-10-2015 Irina,If you could live forever, would you? Here's the scenario: You would remain your current age and wouldn't get older, ever. You couldn't die for any reason. Your health would be good but you'd still get sick, such as the flu. Would you take that? |
